KUCHING: KK SUPER MART, the largest mini convenience supermarket chain in Malaysia, collaborates with the Sarawak State Government to launch Sarawak Pay in its outlets. For the initial stage, Sarawak Pay can be used in 8 outlets in Kuching, 12 outlets in Klang Valley, as well as KK GROUP OF COMPANIES’ subsidiaries Clara International Beauty Salon Kuching and Slimming Sanctuary Beauty Salon Kuching. Customers may use Sarawak Pay to purchase goods and services.
The Launching Ceremony took place 10am last Saturday, in front of KK SUPER MART Kota Sentosa (Batu 7), Kuching. Sarawak Chief Minister Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Guest of Honour of the event, praised KK SUPER MART for being a forward-thinking corporation that embrace modern payment systems, such as the e-Wallet.
Born and raised in Kuching, Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai, Founder & Group Executive Chairman of KK GROUP OF COMPANIES sees great responsibility in promoting Sarawak Pay. The Sarawak State Government sees it as one of the first steps to empower the state’s digital economy towards its goal of becoming a developed state by 2030. KK GROUP OF COMPANIES is currently working towards to Sarawak Pay being accepted in all its 380 outlets, and its multiple subsidiaries.

Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai shares that KK GROUP OF COMPANIES has been accepting majority of the e-Wallets in town, such as Boost, Touch ‘N Go E-Wallet, MCash, WeChat Pay, TaPay, and Maybank QRPay, since it adopted payment via e-Wallets in 2017. With ‘Convenience’ being one of its Core Values since its establishment in 2001, KK SUPER MART is a staunch believer of e-Wallets. ‘The more convenience we provide to customers, the more time they have to spend time at work, or with their family members at home’.
KK SUPER MART Kota Sentosa outlet in Kuching used to be ‘Sin Kiaw Chong’ sundry shop, which was first operated by the grandfather of Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai, and later passed on to his father. This was where Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai accumulated his very first experiences about dealing with people and managing goods. Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai was very proud to be launching Sarawak Pay right in front of this shop where the legacy started.
After 18 years of hard knocks and sheer determination, KK SUPER MART is now one of the most remembered retail brands in town, attracting more than 10 million unique customers every month. Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg states that since the e-Wallet was launched in 2017, it has accumulated 68,000 registered users, more than 2000 merchants statewide, as well as facilitated transactions worth over RM14 Million. He also hints that Sarawak Pay is already in talks with Union Pay of China, and Network for Electronic Transfers Singapore Pte Ltd (NETS) of Singapore, for more regional collaborations.
